Stem Cell Orchestra: Building a Cardiac Patch

Stem Cell Orchestra: Building a Cardiac Patch
A cardiac patch is a tissue construct that mimics the cellular microenvironment of the heart and could be used to support damaged heart muscle after a heart attack. To build a cardiac patch, three cell types are cultured on a biocompatible bioscaffold. Microscopic cellular datasets alone cannot convey the details of this dynamic process for engineering students, so we created this animation to visualize the forces that direct cellular interactions and teach tissue engineering concepts.
